Welcome To The Outdoor Variety

My name is Jason Jones I am a native to North Carolina the home of various choices in outdoor adventure. North Carolina’s landscape has enabled me to take part in an assortment of outdoor experiences. I grew up in a small farm town to a family that seldom fished, never hunted, but have always been supportive.

My interest in the outdoors was recognized at a young age by my dad, he did what any good father should do. Instead of forcing me into a sport he was familiar with he enrolled me into Boy Scouts and subscribed to Field & Stream magazine.

Soon I was camping and traveling with the scouts and hunting with fellow church members. I became mesmerized by the life that Field & Stream portrayed. I set out to become an outdoorsman, with the support of my family and others I have met along the way my passion has grown.

It all hasn’t come easy there has been a lot of trial and error involved along the way. I learned from the pages of outdoor magazines, books, and other sportsman. Soaking up all the information along the way and learning how to be a true sportsman that takes care of all aspects of the outdoors and treating it with respect.

I have always enjoyed new ways of pursuing the outdoors whether it's pursuing new game, paddling instead of driving, backpacking instead of a cabin or making my own gear. The title Outdoor Variety was chosen because it fits what I do. I want to share my advice, knowledge and opinions. I hope you enjoy reading and giving your opinion on what I share.
